COROOS, producer of preserved vegetables, pulses and fruit in cans, jars, cups and flexible packaging, launched its first fruit pouches on the European market in 2008. From September 2021, COROOS will introduce the safe and environmentally friendly wing cap on its fruit pouches.
The innovative design of this wing cap makes the fruit pouches even easier to open and eliminates the danger of swallowing. Besides safety and ease of use, the cap's design also considers sustainability. The wing cap is made of the mono-material Poly Propene and is therefore 100% recyclable. Furthermore, the new wing cap consists of 25% less material than the old cap. This saves COROOS over 100,000 kilograms of plastic, resulting in an annual CO2 reduction of over 200,000 kilograms. Consumers are very positive about this wing cap, especially in terms of child safety and ease of use. These points are seen as added value to the product. The cap can be opened without too much force and, due to its shape and size, is also safe for small children. The wing cap will be seen on all fruit pouches produced by COROOS in the European market from Q4-2021.
The introduction of this innovative wing cap is one of the latest packaging features made possible by a brand new modern packaging line for fruit pouches in which COROOS has invested. "This new packaging line brings many new possibilities for our customers and consumers" says Dies Oostrom (Director Quality & Innovation), such as multi-packs, mix-packaging up to four different flavours per box and various options for the weight of the fruit pouches. "This makes us even more flexible and allows us to respond even better to ever-changing consumer needs and serve a wider target group in various markets."
COROOS makes a wide range of high-quality pouch products such as fruit and vegetable purees, as well as fruit with vegetable additives such as oats, coconut and soya. The recipes from COROOS' kitchen are clean label and therefore contain only natural ingredients. These products are available under both A-brand and private label in European supermarkets.
